Life in the Fast Lane
This was an applied problem that was part of my midterm exam for Trigonometry/Pre-calculus. This problem was about how the distance of a car from the radar gun and the angle of the police officer would affect the total speed of the car. I used the law of Cosine to figure out how much these factors affected the final reading.
Skills
_
Academic skills utilized:
Academic skills utilized:
- Real world applications of problems involving trigonometry such as the laws of sine and cosine.
- Know and apply fundamental facts about polynomials: the remainder theorem, the factor theorem, and the fundamental theorem of algebra.
- Verbal descriptions into mathematical expressions.
Justification
This project was extremely difficult, but i believe that any problem with real world implications is going to be hard. I persevered and managed to complete this extensive project. This taught me about the laws of cosine and how they can be applied in the real world.
