Internship: ITW Forkardt
After finishing your junior year at MTA you are required to partake in an internship. I chose the 240 hour paid internship. I was hired at ITW Forkardt Workholding. During my time there I spent much time doing basic manufacturing tasks. For example mopping and sweeping the floor. The most important thing I did was create preventative maintenance files. I went around and took pictures of all the places that the machines could be oiled, greased, oil changed and any other preventative maintenance check-ups. These files were then added to their ISO records for people that come in and audit. So these files were pretty important. I did many random things on the shop floor for example: laser etching, sandblasting, deburring and tapping holes.

- Revise drafts to more fully and/or precisely convey meaning—drawing on response from others, self-reflection, and reading one’s own work with the eye of a reader; then refine the text— deleting and/or reorganizing ideas, and addressing potential readers’ questions.

Justification
The internship was a very valuable experience to me. This was the first time I was exposed to a normal working environment. Throughout the internship I was exposed to many common manufacturing techniques and procedures. I chose to include this in my portfolio because it shows that I have had previous work skills and work time in a actual working environment. Below is attached my files that I created for my internship.
