Evidence for FRC
This is a competition that MTA partakes in almost every year. There is a game that is released to everyone at the same time and you are given a kit to start building your robot. The game this year was Rebound Rumble. You had to shoot foam basketballs into four different hoops worth different amount of points. Here at MTA everything is student designed and student built. I was part of the team that built the FIRST robot. I used many skills during build season that will help as I move forward. Below is evidence of what I have completed and done.
Skills and Objetives
Technical Standards
- Exposure and use to common shop equipment (drill press, saw, mill and lathe)
- Make routine adjustments as necessary an as authorized
- Report problems to supervisor
Employability Skills
- Identify and define problems/issues
- Generate & select from alternative strategies to solve problems
- Make informed decisions
English Skills
- Participate collaboratively and productively in groups (e.g., response groups, work teams, discussion groups, and committees)-fulfilling roles and responsibilities, posing relevant questions, giving and following instructions, acknowledging and building on ideas and contributions of others to answer questions or solve problems, and offering dissent courteously.
- Demonstrate appropriate social skills of audience, group discussion, or work team behavior by listening attentively and with civility to the ideas of others, gaining the floor in respectful ways, posing appropriate questions, and tolerating ambiguity and lack of consensus.
- Use methods of close and contextualized reading and viewing to examine, interpret, and evaluate print and visual media and other works from popular culture.
Justification
I have decided to put this into my portfolio because this shows my ability to work with teammates and complete big group projects. This also shows that I have common knowledge of shop equipment and tools. I believe that I was an active helping team member and I contributed to the making of the robot. I look forward to coming back as a senior and leading a team of my own.
