Throwing up at School
This was a very hands on learning project that greatly helped me with my understanding of physics applied to real world applications. We didn't actually throw up. That would have been gross. In this project we were paired with another student one person threw a tennis ball up in the air while the other student timed how long it took to hit the ground with a stopwatch. Was a fun project to say the least.
Skills and Objectives
- Describe the motion of an object in free fall from rest
- Calculate velocity, average velocity, & acceleration
- Define inertia & state Newton's First Law
- Distinguish between speed & velocity
Justification
Through this very fun lab I amassed an understanding of free fall and the difference between velocity and acceleration. The lab gave me real world experience with using physics to find an answer to something that I personally would find interesting. Through this lab I have a better understanding of veloctiy, acceleration, newtons basic laws and free fall. These are the reasons I have decided to include this in my portfolio.
